A five-metre coil of 12A-1 chain is the standard factory length - exactly as it comes off the production line. For a maintenance department, an agricultural machinery service workshop or a spare parts store, this is the most practical format: it can be shortened to any length on site, and the surplus remains as a reserve for the next replacement. The Ozdowski 12A chain in a 5 m length is factory-lubricated and packed so that it reaches you ready for fitting.

How should a roller chain be stored so that it does not lose its properties before fitting?

A new chain in its factory packaging will withstand storage in a dry, covered place without any problems. Do not keep it in places exposed to salt water, acids or direct sunlight - UV and corrosion destroy the protective lubricant faster than operation does. If the chain has been in storage for more than a year, check before fitting that the lubricant has not dried out and, if necessary, top it up with mineral oil. Remember: a factory-lubricated chain is not the same as a chain ready to run without ongoing lubrication - once fitted, a regular lubrication schedule applies from day one.
