Heavy-duty roller chains (BH, AH)

Heavy-duty chains, designated with the letter H, are roller chains with plates thicker than in the standard version. The pitch, roller and inner width remain unchanged, so the chain fits the existing drive.

Heavy-duty BH and AH roller chains - thicker plates and a greater strength margin

Thicker plates cope better with shock loads and fatigue, so the chain stretches more slowly and breaks less often in agricultural and construction machinery and heavy conveyors. You gain a greater strength margin without changing the sprockets or the centre distance. We make the chains from C45 steel, and the pin, bush, roller and plate are hardened separately before assembly - even the standard chain has a strength about 20% higher than the standard requires.

Heavy-duty drive chains - European BH series and American AH series

Heavy-duty chains in the European BH series and American AH series (designated in the ASA system with the letter H, e.g. 60H). Ready-cut lengths of AH chains can be found in the AH chain lengths group, and the straight side plate version in the Straight side plate chains group.

Does a heavy-duty chain need a different sprocket?

No. The sprocket is chosen in the same way as for a standard chain - a 12BH-1 chain runs on a 12B-1 sprocket. It is only worth checking the side clearance, as the chain is slightly wider across the pins.
