Silent chains and chains with toothed plates

Silent chains, also known as inverted tooth chains, are made of packs of tooth-profiled plates connected by pins. They mesh with the sprocket much like a gear drive, so they run more quietly and smoothly than roller chains.

Silent chains - high speeds, less noise and vibration

A silent chain copes well with high speeds, limits noise and vibration, and the load is spread across the full width of the plate pack. You choose the chain width to suit the required power, without changing the pitch. It is a good solution in machine tool, pump and gearbox drives, where a roller chain would be too noisy. Roller chains with toothed plates, on the other hand, carry material on the conveyor without additional flights.
