Double pitch roller chains

Double pitch chains have the same rollers, bushes and pins as the base chain, but plates twice as long. The 208B chain therefore has a 25.4 mm pitch with 08B chain components.

Double pitch chains - a lighter and cheaper drive for long conveyors

There are half as many links per metre of chain, so the chain is lighter and cheaper, and the conveyor drive is less loaded. This is an economical solution for conveyors with a long centre distance, running at low speed. Versions with oversize rollers roll along the guide with less resistance, and versions with attachments and hollow pins make it easier to fit flights. We make the standard versions from C45 steel, with components hardened separately before assembly.

ISO 1275 and C-series double pitch roller chains

European-series chains to ISO 1275 (e.g. 208B) and C-series chains, derived from the American standard (e.g. C2040). The digit 2 at the end of the symbol, e.g. C2042, indicates an oversize roller, the letter H - thicker plates, and HP - a hollow pin. Some chains are available in a stainless version.

Frequently asked questions about the interchangeability of C2040 and 208B chains

Will a C2040 chain replace a 208B chain?

No. C2040 corresponds to the 08A chain, and 208B to the 08B chain. They have the same pitch, but different rollers and inner width.
