Product Description
Roller chain 32A-1 (160-1) cotter-pinned on one side
Simplex roller chain 32A-1 (ANSI 160, pitch 50.8 mm) is used as a replacement part in drives with inch dimensions. Manufactured in accordance with the standard ANSI B29.1; as a European manufacturer, we guarantee dimensional compatibility with sprockets designed to the same standard. Thanks to hardening each component separately, even before the whole chain is assembled, Ozdowski products achieve a breaking strength about 20% higher than the minimum values specified by the standard.

Frequently asked questions
How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?
Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 32A (ANSI 160) they are 50.8 mm, 31.55 mm and 28.58 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.
How does a chain "cotter-pinned on one side" differ from a standard connecting link?
In a standard connecting link, the side plate is secured by a spring clip fitted onto the ends of the pins. In the "cotter pin" version, one side of the connecting link is secured by a cotter pin passing through a hole in the pin, which provides a more secure connection that resists working loose under higher loads and shocks - which is why this solution is more often used in chains with a larger pitch.
Do chain guides really affect chain service life?
Indeed - a correctly mounted chain guide dampens vibrations and limits so-called chain whip, which is one of the most common causes of premature link breakage.
Can a chain in the ANSI inch system be fitted on a European sprocket?
The only deciding factor is the match of three dimensions: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - if the sprocket has been made to the same dimensions (regardless of whether they are expressed in inches or millimetres), they will work together correctly.
Where is this product used?
Used in very high-capacity conveyors and elevators and in heavier construction and mining machinery, where maximum tensile strength counts.
