Product Description
Roller chain 32A-1 (160-1)
Chain 32A-1 is a simplex American chain proven in maintenance, chain number 160, pitch 50.8 mm. Manufactured in accordance with the standard ANSI B29.1; as a European manufacturer, we guarantee dimensional compatibility with sprockets designed to the same standard. The Ozdowski brand hardens pins, rollers and plates individually, before the links are assembled into a complete chain - as a result, our chains are approx. 20% stronger than the standard requires and therefore more durable and robust when working under load.

Frequently asked questions
How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?
Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 32A (ANSI 160) they are 50.8 mm, 31.55 mm and 28.58 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.
Can an ANSI chain be ordered in a non-standard length?
Yes - with an odd number of links a half link is used, although fitting it slightly weakens the chain. Where possible, it is better to choose a length that gives an even number of links and to close the chain with a full connecting link.
What does the number in the American chain designation mean, e.g. 40, 50 or 60?
In the ANSI system, the chain number has a dimensional meaning: the first digits indicate the pitch expressed in eighths of an inch (e.g. "50" = 5/8 inch = 15.875 mm), and the last digit indicates the series - "0" is a standard simplex roller chain. That is why the chain number immediately tells an experienced mechanic which pitch to look for.
Does a roller chain really "stretch" during operation?
Not in the sense of the metal stretching - it is increasing play caused by wear of the pins and working bushes. Regular lubrication and precise fitting of the components significantly limit this phenomenon.
Where is this product used?
One of the largest pitches in our range of American chains - used in the most heavily loaded industrial conveyors, elevators and in mining and construction machinery.
