Product Description

Roller chain 20A-1 (ANSI chain number 100) is a simplex chain in the inch pitch system, with a pitch of 31.75 mm. Compliance with standard ANSI B29.1 means full interchangeability with chains of this pitch from other suppliers working to the same standard; as a European manufacturer, we also rely on separate hardening of each component. In Ozdowski chains, each component is hardened separately before being assembled into a finished link - which is why their actual strength exceeds the requirements of the standard by about 20%, meaning greater durability and resistance to breaking.

Frequently asked questions

Which chain has a pitch of 31.75 mm, a roller of 19.05 mm and an inner width of 18.9 mm?

It is the 20A-1 roller chain according to DIN 8188 / ISO 606 (ANSI B29.1), single-strand. If the measured chain has these dimensions, the matching product in the Ozdowski range is: roller chain 20A-1 (ANSI 100-1), pitch 31.75 mm (1 1/4"), C45 steel. The pitch is measured as the distance between the axes of adjacent pins.

How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?

Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 20A (ANSI 100) they are 31.75 mm, 18.9 mm and 19.05 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.

How can a muddy or oily industrial chain be cleaned safely?

Avoid strong acidic cleaners and pressure washers at close range - high-pressure water can be forced under the rollers. Dedicated cleaning agents and soft brushes are safer.

How many links should an ordered American chain have?

It is always advisable to order a chain with an even number of links - this allows it to be closed with a standard connecting link without having to use a weaker offset half link.

What signs indicate that a chain is due for replacement?

The most important sign is elongation exceeding approx. 2-3% of the original chain length. Additionally, look out for cracked rollers, corrosion on the pins and uneven running on the sprockets.

What does the lead time depend on?

When ordering, please check the current stock level of this chain - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may vary depending on the warehouse.
