Product Description
Roller chain 16B-3 stainless
The stainless chain 16B-3 is a triplex chain with a pitch of 25.4 mm, used where standard carbon steel would corrode. Manufactured in accordance with the standard DIN 8187 / ISO 606; as a European manufacturer, we guarantee dimensional compatibility with sprockets of the same standard, regardless of the material. Thanks to hardening each component separately, even before the whole chain is assembled, Ozdowski products achieve a breaking strength about 20% higher than the minimum values specified by the standard.

Frequently asked questions
How do I select a stainless 16B chain for a drive or conveyor?
Three parameters are key: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 16B they are 25.4 mm, 17.02 mm and 15.88 mm respectively. In addition, in a corrosive environment it is worth assessing whether standard stainless steel is sufficient or whether the acid-resistant 316L version is needed.
What grade of steel is the stainless chain in this version made of?
The standard stainless version is made of chromium-nickel steel (type 304) containing approx. 18% chromium and 8-10% nickel. It performs well in humid conditions and in the food and pharmaceutical industries, where carbon steel would corrode.
What is the triplex design of a roller chain used for?
A triplex chain consists of three parallel rows of links mounted on common pins. It is chosen when the installation space does not allow a sprocket with a larger pitch and the drive must transmit a higher torque than with the simplex version.
Does a chain with extended (double) pitch fit standard sprockets?
No - it requires a sprocket designed for double pitch (every second tooth engaged). It must not be confused or interchanged with a standard-pitch chain of the same base designation.
Where is this product used?
Used in the food and pharmaceutical industries - on production lines and conveyors washed daily with hot water and cleaning agents, where a carbon steel chain would quickly corrode.
