Product Description

Roller chain 16A-2 (80-2)

This duplex roller chain bears the designation 16A-2 (ANSI 80) and operates at a pitch of 25.4 mm, typical of the drives of machines imported from the USA. As a European manufacturer, we focus on a precise fit of the pin in the bush, so the chain retains its original dimensions under load for a long time. Ozdowski brand chains offer strength up to 20% higher than the standard requires - each component (pin, roller, plate) is hardened individually before the chain is assembled, which translates into greater durability and resistance to elongation.

Frequently asked questions

How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?

Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 16A (ANSI 80) they are 25.4 mm, 15.75 mm and 15.88 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.

What is the purpose of the duplex design in a roller chain?

A duplex chain consists of two parallel rows of links mounted on common pins. This design is chosen when the installation space does not allow a sprocket with a larger pitch and the drive has to transmit a higher torque than the simplex version.

Why is it better to use a chain breaker rather than a hammer to separate a chain?

A chain breaker pushes the pin out axially and in a controlled manner, without the risk of deforming the side plates. Hammer blows generate uncontrolled forces that can damage the pin fit in the adjacent link.

When is it better to use an automatic tensioner and when a fixed chain guide?

Spring tensioners perform well in drives with variable loads and higher speeds, whereas fixed plastic chain guides are suitable for a stable, repeatable duty cycle where the tension changes only slightly.

Where is this product used?

Used as the main drive and in the adjustment mechanisms of manure spreaders, as well as in conveyors and machines operating under higher loads. The same pitch in the heavy-duty version (80H) is also widely used in round balers, including those by Sipma, Vicon, Kverneland and Famarol.
