Product Description
Roller chain 16A-1 (80-1)
Roller chain 16A-1 (ANSI chain number 80) is a simplex chain in the inch pitch system, with a pitch of 25.4 mm. The pin, roller and plate are hardened separately before the link is assembled - the approach on which we, as a European manufacturer, build the durability of the entire American series. Ozdowski hardens each chain component individually before final assembly - thanks to this, our chains are more durable and stronger, with a strength reserve reaching approx. 20% above the requirements of the standard.

Frequently asked questions
How do you choose the correct ANSI roller chain pitch for a drive?
Three parameters determine the correct selection: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 16A (ANSI 80) they are 25.4 mm, 15.75 mm and 15.88 mm respectively. It is also worth considering the load, rotational speed and operating environment (dust, moisture) in order to choose the right version.
Why is it better to use a chain breaker rather than a hammer to separate a chain?
A chain breaker pushes the pin out axially and in a controlled manner, without the risk of deforming the side plates. Hammer blows generate uncontrolled forces that can damage the pin fit in the adjacent link.
What is a half link (offset link) used for in a roller chain?
Only when the length of the drive requires an odd number of links. It is worth remembering that a half link has a lower strength than a full link, so whenever possible it is better to select the chain length so that one is not needed.
How does sprocket misalignment affect chain life?
Misaligned sprockets alternately "jerk" the chain sideways during operation. As a result, the inner surfaces of the plates wear and the pins are exposed to additional, damaging lateral forces.
Where is this product used?
Used in the main drive and adjustment mechanisms of manure spreaders and in industrial conveyors; the heavy-duty version (80H) of this pitch is also fitted in round balers (including Sipma, Vicon, Kverneland, Famarol).
