Chain 12B-1 is an industrial-grade simplex roller chain with a pitch of 19.05 mm, designed for use in drives of machines and production equipment. The chain is manufactured in accordance with the standard DIN 8187 / ISO 606; each pin, roller and plate is hardened individually, which, as a Polish manufacturer, we consider key to durability. Ozdowski brand chains offer strength up to 20% higher than the standard requires - each component (pin, roller, plate) is hardened individually before the chain is assembled, which translates into greater durability and resistance to elongation.

How do I choose the right roller chain for an industrial drive?

The key is to determine three parameters: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 12B these are 19.05 mm, 11.68 mm and 12.07 mm respectively. In addition, operating conditions should be taken into account: load, rotational speed and environment (dust, moisture), in order to select the right version.

How does a nickel-plated chain differ from a standard one?

The passivated nickel coating replaces zinc plating - it is more visually appealing, has a characteristic yellowish-gold tint and allows a thicker coating than zinc plating, without changing the dimensions or strength of the chain compared with the standard version.

What should roller chains operating at high temperatures be lubricated with?

Standard grease will quickly run off or carbonise at high temperature. In such conditions, dedicated synthetic oils with added graphite or molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) perform better.

Why is correct chain tension crucial for its service life?

A chain that is too slack starts to vibrate (so-called whipping), causing the rollers to strike the sprocket teeth. Excessive tension, on the other hand, overloads the shaft bearings and accelerates pin wear.
