Product Description
Roller chain 12B-1, acid-resistant
The stainless (acid-resistant, 316L) chain 12B-1 is a simplex chain with a pitch of 19.05 mm, used where standard carbon steel would corrode. Manufactured in accordance with the standard DIN 8187 / ISO 606; as a Polish manufacturer, we guarantee dimensional compatibility with sprockets of the same standard, regardless of the material. In Ozdowski chains, each component is hardened separately before being assembled into a finished link - which is why their actual strength exceeds the requirements of the standard by about 20%, meaning greater durability and resistance to breaking.

Frequently asked questions
How do I select a stainless 12B chain for a drive or conveyor?
Three parameters are key: pitch, inner width and roller diameter - for 12B they are 19.05 mm, 11.68 mm and 12.07 mm respectively. In addition, in a corrosive environment it is worth assessing whether standard stainless steel is sufficient or whether the acid-resistant 316L version is needed.
How does the acid-resistant version (316L) differ from standard stainless steel?
316L steel additionally contains 2-3% molybdenum, which significantly increases resistance to chlorides and acidic environments - which is why it is described as “acid-resistant”. It performs well where standard stainless steel (304) is not sufficient: in marine environments, in the chemical industry and on lines with frequent contact with salt or aggressive cleaning agents.
Can standard industrial grease be used on a stainless chain?
In food or pharmaceutical environments where contact with the product is possible, lubricants approved for food contact (NSF H1 class) must be used rather than standard industrial grease.
How can the chain be cleaned safely without damaging the passive layer of the stainless steel?
It is advisable to avoid agents containing chlorine and strong chloride acids, which can damage the passive layer. Dedicated stainless steel cleaners and thorough rinsing with clean water after washing are safer.
Where is this product used?
This material version performs well in the chemical and marine/offshore industries and in wastewater treatment plants - wherever standard stainless steel (304) does not provide sufficient resistance to chlorides.
