Chain 085 (simplex) is a roller chain used in drives of industrial machines and equipment, wherever reliable torque transmission is required. In Ozdowski chains, each component is hardened separately before being assembled into a finished link - which is why their actual strength exceeds the requirements of the standard by about 20%, meaning greater durability and resistance to breaking.

How do I choose the right roller chain for an industrial drive?

It is essential to determine three parameters: the pitch, inner width and roller diameter corresponding to the designation 085. In addition, operating conditions should be taken into account: load, rotational speed and environment (dust, moisture), in order to select the right version.

Can a chain be ordered in a length other than a multiple of the pitch?

Yes - with an odd number of links, a half link (offset link) is used. However, bear in mind that fitting it slightly weakens the chain, so whenever possible it is better to choose a length with an even number of links.

Why is correct chain tension crucial for its service life?

A chain that is too slack starts to vibrate (so-called whipping), causing the rollers to strike the sprocket teeth. Excessive tension, on the other hand, overloads the shaft bearings and accelerates pin wear.

How often should chain tension in a drive be checked?

The first tension check should be carried out after the first 50 operating hours (running-in period), and then regularly - once a month or in line with the machine's inspection schedule.
