Product Description
Sprocket 32B-1 z=40, with hub
Sprocket 32B-1, simplex, with 40 teeth and a hub - pitch 2" (50.8 mm). The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
How can you check whether the chain in an existing drive is already excessively elongated (stretched)?
Stretch out a section of a dozen or so chain links and compare its length with the catalogue dimension - an elongation of more than approx. 2-3% means the chain is due for replacement. A stretched chain no longer seats properly on the sprocket teeth, which accelerates the wear of both components, so it is better to replace it before it damages the sprocket as well.
Can a sprocket be reconditioned, e.g. by hardfacing worn teeth?
Technically, hardfacing and re-milling the teeth is possible, but in practice it is rarely cost-effective - the cost of reconditioning is often close to the price of a new sprocket, and restoring the full precision of the tooth profile requires specialist machining. In most cases, replacing it with a new sprocket is the quicker and safer solution.
How can you tell whether a sprocket is still fit for further service or already due for replacement?
It is worth checking the tooth profile for visible chipping or the characteristic "hooked" shape, and also measuring the pitch circle diameter and comparing it with the catalogue dimension of a new sprocket. If the difference is visually noticeable or the chain starts to "jump", the sprocket is due for replacement.
In what cases are multi-strand sprockets used?
They are used to drive multi-strand chains in heavily loaded machines where there is no room for a wider sprocket with a larger pitch. Several strands distribute the load evenly, preventing premature chain breakage.
Where is this product used?
32B-1 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.
