Product Description
Sprocket 28B-1 z=76, with hub
The sprocket 28B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 76 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 1 3/4" / 44.45 mm. As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
How can you tell whether a sprocket is still fit for further service or already due for replacement?
It is worth checking the tooth profile for visible chipping or the characteristic "hooked" shape, and also measuring the pitch circle diameter and comparing it with the catalogue dimension of a new sprocket. If the difference is visually noticeable or the chain starts to "jump", the sprocket is due for replacement.
Can a new chain be fitted on an old, worn sprocket?
Never do this. An old, deformed sprocket has altered tooth geometry and will force drastic mechanical stretching on the new chain. The rule is "new chain - new sprocket" - only then will the drive achieve maximum service life.
When is it worth using a clamping bush (Taper Bush) for a sprocket?
Wherever fast assembly matters. A clamping bush eliminates the need for laborious boring of the hub and cutting of a keyway - you insert the sprocket, tighten the screws and the machine is back in operation within minutes.
How do you calculate the pitch circle diameter of a sprocket?
The pitch circle diameter (Dp) is, in simplified terms, the line along which the chain rollers roll. It is calculated using the formula: pitch divided by sine (180° / number of teeth).
Where is this product used?
28B-1 sprockets operate in drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under load matters.
