Product Description
Sprocket 28A-1 (ANSI 140-1) z=18 plate wheel, C45 steel fits ASA 140 (28A-1) roller chain, single-strand (simplex), with a pitch of 44.45 mm (1 3/4"). It is a plate wheel without a hub, has 18 teeth and is made of C45 steel in accordance with ISO 606 and ANSI B29.1.
The plate wheel has a pilot bore. It can be bolted or welded to your own hub, flange or drum, which makes it a good choice for larger ratios and non-standard designs.

Frequently asked questions
Which chain does this sprocket fit?
ASA 140-1 (28A-1) roller chain with a pitch of 44.45 mm. A simplex sprocket requires a single-strand (simplex) chain.
How should a sprocket be protected before a longer machine standstill?
After cleaning with a brush and technical cleaner, coat the whole surface of the sprocket with preservative grease or thick spray oil that displaces moisture. This protects the C45 steel against corrosion during downtime, for example out of season.
How does tooth wear affect machine operation?
Worn teeth make the chain engage the sprocket unevenly and abruptly. This causes vibrations that are passed on to shafts and bearings and accelerate wear of the whole drive.
How do I check the pitch of a sprocket?
The sprocket pitch matches the chain pitch - it is the distance between the centres of adjacent teeth measured on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket: it should sit on the teeth without tension. This sprocket has a pitch of 44.45 mm (1 3/4").
How is the pitch diameter of a sprocket calculated?
The pitch diameter Dp is the circle along which the chain rollers travel. It is calculated with the formula: pitch divided by the sine of (180° / number of teeth). For this sprocket it is 255.98 mm, and the outside diameter De is 274 mm.
What does the lead time depend on?
When ordering, please check the current stock level of this sprocket - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may vary depending on the warehouse.
