Product Description
Sprocket 24B-3 z=17, with hub
Sprocket 24B-3, triplex (three-strand), with 17 teeth and a hub - pitch 1 1/2" (38.1 mm). The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
What does uneven, one-sided wear of the sprocket teeth indicate?
This usually indicates misalignment between the driving and driven sprockets or that the chain is skewed relative to the sprocket. It is worth checking the alignment of both sprockets and the condition of the shaft bearings - over time, one-sided wear causes the chain to jump off the tooth.
How do I check the radial and axial runout of a sprocket after mounting it on the shaft?
A dial indicator on a magnetic stand is used for the measurement. Place the tip against the circumference of the sprocket or its side face, rotate the shaft and check the deviations. Excessive runout indicates faulty installation or a damaged shaft.
Why are cast sprockets less precise than turned and milled ones?
Cheap castings have a rough tooth surface, hidden air bubbles and slight deformations. CNC-turned and milled sprockets mean a smooth working surface, perfect alignment and safety for the most expensive machines.
How important is the concentricity of the hub bore relative to the toothed rim?
If the hub bore is not machined concentrically with the toothed rim, the sprocket will "run out" during operation - the teeth will engage the chain at a varying angle, which accelerates their wear and generates additional vibration. That is why boring out the pilot bore must be done on a lathe, clamping the sprocket by the hub or rim, and not "by eye".
Where is this product used?
24B-3 sprockets operate in drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under load matters.
