Product Description
Sprocket 24B-3 z=14, with hub
The sprocket 24B-3 shown is a triplex (three-strand) sprocket with 14 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 1 1/2" / 38.1 mm. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 from C45E structural steel (EN 10083-1), without tooth hardening - as a Polish manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies an economical version that is fully dimensionally interchangeable with the hardened variant of the same pitch.

Frequently asked questions
Can a sprocket be welded directly to the drive shaft?
Technically this is possible, but we strongly advise against such a solution. Welding overheats the material, damages nearby bearings, bends the shaft and prevents the worn sprocket from being easily replaced later. Always use mounting with a key or a clamping bush.
How does material quality prevent the teeth from "shearing" during sudden machine jerks?
Soft, uncertified sheet metal deforms under a sudden jerk - the teeth bend over. Steel from a certified melt, correctly heat-treated, has a high yield strength and withstands a torque surge without permanent deformation.
How do I select a sprocket with bearing for a tensioning system?
An idler sprocket (with built-in bearing) is selected according to the pitch of the working chain and mounted on the slack side (not on the tight side). It is important that the bearing is protected against dust, especially in agricultural machinery.
How should a chain drive be lubricated to extend its service life?
The lubricant should get between the rollers and plates of the chain, not just onto its outer surface - it is best applied to the lower (slack) part of the chain, just before it runs onto the sprocket. In a dusty environment, a thick grease works better, while at high speeds a lower-viscosity oil that penetrates the joints more easily is preferable.
Where is this product used?
Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.
