Product Description

Sprocket 24B-2 z=11, hardened hub

Sprocket 24B-2, duplex, with 11 teeth and a hardened hub - pitch 1 1/2" (38.1 mm). Compliance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 guarantees full interchangeability with chain of the same pitch; C45E steel (EN 10083-1) and induction hardening of the teeth (45-55 HRC) provide high wear resistance while keeping the hub machinable.

Frequently asked questions

When is it worth using a clamping bush (Taper Bush) for a sprocket?

Wherever fast assembly matters. A clamping bush eliminates the need for laborious boring of the hub and cutting of a keyway - you insert the sprocket, tighten the screws and the machine is back in operation within minutes.

How does uneven tooth wear affect machine vibration?

Worn teeth cause the so-called polygon effect - the chain drops off and climbs onto the teeth abruptly, which transmits vibrations to the shafts, destroys the bearings and leads to cracking of welds in the machine.

How does induction hardening of the teeth affect abrasion resistance?

Induction hardening hardens only the surface layer of the tooth, where the chain rollers bear. The tooth is resistant to wear, while the sprocket core and hub remain elastic enough to safely absorb impacts and be suitable for boring.

Is a duplex sprocket the same as a tandem sprocket (for two single chains)?

No, even though they look very similar. A tandem sprocket is also a single, monolithic sprocket, but with a different (wider) spacing of the toothed rims - designed specifically for two independent simplex chains running in parallel. This duplex sprocket has a rim spacing matched to a single duplex chain, in which both strands are integrated with each other. Using a duplex sprocket for two single chains is a mistake - the spacing is too narrow and the chains will rub against each other, which leads to accelerated wear and, in extreme cases, to serious drive failure.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications of the 24B-2 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
