Product Description
Sprocket 24B-1 z=76, with hub
Simplex sprocket 24B-1 with hub, 76 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 1 1/2" (38.1 mm). As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
What is the relationship between the number of teeth of a sprocket and the rotational speed of the drive?
This is the basic principle of the transmission ratio. If there is a small sprocket on the motor (drive) and a large one on the machine, the machine will turn more slowly but gain proportionally greater torque (force).
What does the marking "z=X" on a sprocket mean and why is it so important when ordering?
"z" is the number of teeth of the sprocket - together with the pitch and the number of chain strands, it unambiguously defines the sprocket geometry (pitch circle and outside diameter). Ordering a sprocket with the wrong "z" usually means that it will not work correctly with the second sprocket already in the machine, and a different transmission ratio than intended will result.
How can you recognise a sprocket not made in accordance with the DIN 8187 profile?
Most often it is visible from the incorrect seating of the chain on the teeth - the chain "sits" on the tooth tips or too deep in the tooth roots, despite the correct pitch. In that case, it is worth placing a section of a known reference chain of this pitch on the sprocket and checking whether it engages each tooth evenly and smoothly.
How can you check that the sprocket meshes correctly with the chain when the machine is started for the first time?
At low speed (e.g. turning the shaft by hand), it is worth observing whether the chain enters and leaves the teeth smoothly around the entire circumference of the sprocket, without catching or jumping. Any irregularities in operation at this stage usually indicate an alignment error rather than a defect in the sprocket itself.
Where is this product used?
24B-1 sprockets operate in drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under load matters.
