Product Description

Sprocket 24B-1 z=28, with hub

Sprocket 24B-1, simplex, with 28 teeth and a hub - pitch 1 1/2" (38.1 mm). As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions

How do I determine the centre distance between the driving and driven sprockets?

The centre distance should provide an adequate chain wrap angle on the smaller sprocket (usually a minimum of about 120°) and sufficient chain length so that the number of links is a whole number, preferably even. Too small a centre distance increases the meshing frequency and accelerates wear, while too large a one leads to excessive chain sag.

How often should chain tension be checked on a machine in operation?

In machines operating continuously, it is advisable to check the tension every few weeks, and in a newly installed drive - as early as after the first hours of operation, when the chain "beds in". A correctly tensioned chain has a slight, visible sag on the slack side - too tight a chain accelerates bearing wear, while too loose a chain increases the risk of it jumping off the sprocket.

What happens when a sprocket operates under a greater load than intended?

Overloading first accelerates normal tooth wear, and with sudden overloads (e.g. machine blockage) the teeth may become permanently bent or sheared. In such cases, using an overload clutch in the system is often a better solution than choosing an oversized sprocket "just in case".

How does a sprocket with hardened teeth differ from the standard version (non-hardened)?

The hardened version has teeth induction-hardened to 45-55 HRC, which extends service life in drives operating continuously and under heavy load. The standard version (non-hardened) is cheaper and fully adequate for applications with moderate load or intermittent operation - our catalogue offers both variants for most pitches and numbers of teeth.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications of the 24B-1 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
