Product Description
Sprocket 24B-1 z=23, with hub
Sprocket 24B-1, simplex, with 23 teeth and a hub - pitch 1 1/2" (38.1 mm). As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
How do I select a sprocket with bearing for a tensioning system?
An idler sprocket (with built-in bearing) is selected according to the pitch of the working chain and mounted on the slack side (not on the tight side). It is important that the bearing is protected against dust, especially in agricultural machinery.
Can the hub of a sprocket have a different hardness from the toothed rim?
Yes, and in practice this is usually the case - in the version with induction-hardened teeth, only the toothed rim is hardened, while the hub remains soft so that it can be freely turned and a keyway can be cut in it. This solution combines tooth wear resistance with ease of machining the hub.
How important is the concentricity of the hub bore relative to the toothed rim?
If the hub bore is not machined concentrically with the toothed rim, the sprocket will "run out" during operation - the teeth will engage the chain at a varying angle, which accelerates their wear and generates additional vibration. That is why boring out the pilot bore must be done on a lathe, clamping the sprocket by the hub or rim, and not "by eye".
How do you calculate the pitch circle diameter of a sprocket?
The pitch circle diameter (Dp) is, in simplified terms, the line along which the chain rollers roll. It is calculated using the formula: pitch divided by sine (180° / number of teeth).
Where is this product used?
Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.
