Product Description
Sprocket 20B-3 z=23, with hub
Sprocket 20B-3 with hub, 23 teeth, triplex (three-strand) - a product matched to chain with a pitch of 31.75 mm (1 1/4"). As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
Will a sprocket from another manufacturer work properly with the chain I already have?
If the sprocket is made to the same standard (DIN 8187/ISO 606) and has the same pitch and number of strands, it should work properly with a chain of another brand - that is the purpose of standardisation in this industry. However, differences between manufacturers may concern, for example, hub dimensions or material, so these parameters are worth checking separately.
What does the marking "z=X" on a sprocket mean and why is it so important when ordering?
"z" is the number of teeth of the sprocket - together with the pitch and the number of chain strands, it unambiguously defines the sprocket geometry (pitch circle and outside diameter). Ordering a sprocket with the wrong "z" usually means that it will not work correctly with the second sprocket already in the machine, and a different transmission ratio than intended will result.
How can you recognise a sprocket not made in accordance with the DIN 8187 profile?
Most often it is visible from the incorrect seating of the chain on the teeth - the chain "sits" on the tooth tips or too deep in the tooth roots, despite the correct pitch. In that case, it is worth placing a section of a known reference chain of this pitch on the sprocket and checking whether it engages each tooth evenly and smoothly.
How does a sprocket differ from a module spur gear?
A sprocket works with a roller chain and has a tooth profile matched to the chain rollers (standard DIN 8187/ISO 606), whereas a module spur gear meshes directly with another gear or a gear rack, has an involute tooth profile and parameters described by the module (standard DIN 780/ISO 54). These are two different power transmission systems, not interchangeable with each other.
Where is this product used?
Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.
When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
