Product Description
Sprocket 20B-2 z=18, hardened hub
The sprocket 20B-2 shown is a duplex sprocket with 18 teeth, made with a hardened hub, for chain with a pitch of 1 1/4" / 31.75 mm. Made in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606, from C45E steel (EN 10083-1), with teeth induction hardened to 45-55 HRC - as a Polish manufacturer, Ozdowski ensures that the hub remains soft and suitable for turning.

Frequently asked questions
What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?
The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.
When should I choose a sprocket with hub and when a flat one (plate wheel)?
Flat sprockets (plate wheels) are most often used where they are mounted onto an existing flange or drum, or when there is extremely little space on the shaft. We choose a sprocket with hub when it must reliably transmit high torque directly from the shaft via a key - the hub provides a longer contact surface.
What is the relationship between the number of teeth of a sprocket and the rotational speed of the drive?
This is the basic principle of the transmission ratio. If there is a small sprocket on the motor (drive) and a large one on the machine, the machine will turn more slowly but gain proportionally greater torque (force).
Is a duplex sprocket the same as a tandem sprocket (for two single chains)?
No, even though they look very similar. A tandem sprocket is also a single, monolithic sprocket, but with a different (wider) spacing of the toothed rims - designed specifically for two independent simplex chains running in parallel. This duplex sprocket has a rim spacing matched to a single duplex chain, in which both strands are integrated with each other. Using a duplex sprocket for two single chains is a mistake - the spacing is too narrow and the chains will rub against each other, which leads to accelerated wear and, in extreme cases, to serious drive failure.
Where is this product used?
20B-2 sprockets operate in the drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under heavy load matters.
