Product Description

Sprocket 16B-3 z=39, with hub

Sprocket 16B-3 with hub, 39 teeth, triplex (three-strand) - a product matched to chain with a pitch of 25.4 mm (1"). The material is C45E carbon steel (EN 10083-1), and the teeth remain unhardened (without induction hardening) - in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606; this version is easier to machine over the entire depth of the sprocket.

Frequently asked questions

How do sprockets for roller chains differ from sprockets for toothed chains (silent chain)?

A sprocket for roller chain has a rounded tooth root matched to the chain roller (profile according to DIN 8187), whereas a sprocket for toothed chain (silent chain) has a flat, trapezoidal tooth profile that engages the chain plates instead of rollers. These two systems are not interchangeable.

Can a sprocket with a technological bore be installed without additional machining?

No - the technological bore is deliberately too small to fit a typical shaft. It must be bored on a lathe to the required diameter and, if necessary, a keyway cut according to the requirements of the specific machine.

Why are cast sprockets less precise than turned and milled ones?

Cheap castings have a rough tooth surface, hidden air bubbles and slight deformations. CNC-turned and milled sprockets mean a smooth working surface, perfect alignment and safety for the most expensive machines.

What does the marking "z=X" on a sprocket mean and why is it so important when ordering?

"z" is the number of teeth of the sprocket - together with the pitch and the number of chain strands, it unambiguously defines the sprocket geometry (pitch circle and outside diameter). Ordering a sprocket with the wrong "z" usually means that it will not work correctly with the second sprocket already in the machine, and a different transmission ratio than intended will result.

Where is this product used?

16B-3 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
