Product Description

Sprocket 16B-3 z=11, with hub

The sprocket 16B-3 shown is a triplex (three-strand) sprocket with 11 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 1" / 25.4 mm. Compliance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 guarantees full interchangeability with a chain of the same pitch; the sprocket is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1) in a non-hardened version - the standard choice for applications with moderate and medium load.

Frequently asked questions

How does material quality prevent the teeth from "shearing" during sudden machine jerks?

Soft, uncertified sheet metal deforms under a sudden jerk - the teeth bend over. Steel from a certified melt, correctly heat-treated, has a high yield strength and withstands a torque surge without permanent deformation.

What is the set screw hole in the hub for?

The threaded hole in the hub is used to screw in a headless screw (a so-called grub screw). It secures the sprocket against axial displacement along the shaft during machine vibration.

Does the machine's operating temperature matter when choosing the sprocket material?

Yes - at very low or very high temperatures the mechanical properties of steel or cast iron change, and lubricants may change viscosity or thicken. Under unusual thermal conditions (cold stores, furnaces, dryers), it is advisable to consult the supplier before selecting a specific material variant.

What is a technological bore in a sprocket and why is it left?

We manufacture sprockets with hub with a small, so-called pilot (preliminary) bore. We leave it deliberately so that the customer (or workshop) can bore it precisely to the exact shaft size of their machine.

Where is this product used?

Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
