Product Description
Sprocket 16B-1 z=46, with hub
Simplex sprocket 16B-1 with hub, 46 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 1" (25.4 mm). The sprocket complies with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 and is made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are not hardened, which lowers the cost of the sprocket and makes it easier to machine (e.g. deep boring of the hub) throughout the entire volume of the material.

Frequently asked questions
How do I bore the hole in a sprocket to fit a motor shaft?
A sprocket with a pilot bore should be clamped in a lathe (gripping the hub to avoid runout) and bored to the required diameter with an H7 tolerance. The hub is usually soft and easy to machine, even in the version with hardened teeth.
What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?
The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.
Does a sprocket with hub have a fixed mounting side, or can it be reversed?
The sprocket is usually symmetrical with respect to the plane of the rim, so the rim itself cannot be "reversed incorrectly" - but the hub is usually on only one side of the sprocket, which determines which way the sprocket must be mounted relative to other components on the shaft (e.g. bearings, other sprockets).
When is it worth considering a sprocket made of reinforced steel for heavy-duty operating conditions?
In heavy dust, with powerful jerks (e.g. in presses) and wherever a breakdown in the middle of the season is not an option, sprockets made of higher-strength quenching and tempering steel or a variant with hardened teeth are often a good solution - it is worth consulting the supplier in the case of unusual operating conditions.
Where is this product used?
16B-1 sprockets are used in industrial drive transmissions: conveyors, feeders, packaging machines and production lines where precise, repeatable torque transmission matters.
