Product Description

Sprocket 16B-1 z=38, hardened hub

Simplex sprocket 16B-1 with hardened hub, 38 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 1" (25.4 mm). Compliance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 guarantees full interchangeability with chain of the same pitch; C45E steel (EN 10083-1) and induction hardening of the teeth (45-55 HRC) provide high wear resistance while keeping the hub machinable.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate the pitch circle diameter of a sprocket?

The pitch circle diameter (Dp) is, in simplified terms, the line along which the chain rollers roll. It is calculated using the formula: pitch divided by sine (180° / number of teeth).

When does tooth wear (the "shark fin" profile) mean the sprocket must be replaced?

If the teeth resemble pointed, tilted shark fins, the sprocket must be replaced immediately. Operating on such a profile can damage even a brand-new chain within a dozen or so days.

What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?

The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.

When should I choose a sprocket with hub and when a flat one (plate wheel)?

Flat sprockets (plate wheels) are most often used where they are mounted onto an existing flange or drum, or when there is extremely little space on the shaft. We choose a sprocket with hub when it must reliably transmit high torque directly from the shaft via a key - the hub provides a longer contact surface.

Where is this product used?

16B-1 sprockets operate in the drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under heavy load matters.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
