Product Description
Sprocket 16B-1 z=17, hardened hub
The sprocket 16B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 17 teeth, made with a hardened hub, for chain with a pitch of 1" / 25.4 mm. As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - the teeth are induction hardened (45-55 HRC), while the hub remains soft and easy to machine.

Frequently asked questions
How do I bore the hole in a sprocket to fit a motor shaft?
A sprocket with a pilot bore should be clamped in a lathe (gripping the hub to avoid runout) and bored to the required diameter with an H7 tolerance. If the sprocket has hardened teeth, the hub is usually soft and easy to machine.
What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?
The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.
Why are cast sprockets less precise than turned and milled ones?
Cheap castings have a rough tooth surface, hidden air bubbles and slight deformations. CNC-turned and milled sprockets mean a smooth working surface, perfect alignment and safety for the most expensive machines.
How do you correctly align sprockets during installation?
The driving and driven sprockets must be in one perfect line. You can use a long steel straightedge placed against the faces of both sprockets or a professional laser alignment tool. Even a slight angular deviation will quickly destroy the chain.
Where is this product used?
This type of sprocket is used in drives of agricultural and industrial machinery, including screw and bucket conveyors, feed conveyors, packaging machines and internal transport systems.
