Product Description
Sprocket 16B-1 z=16, hardened hub
The sprocket 16B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 16 teeth, made with a hardened hub, for chain with a pitch of 1" / 25.4 mm. Sprocket compliant with DIN 8187 / ISO 606, milled from C45E steel (EN 10083-1); the teeth are induction hardened (45-55 HRC), while the core and hub remain soft, allowing the bore to be safely machined to the shaft size.

Frequently asked questions
What causes premature wear of the side faces of the teeth?
This is most often the result of misalignment of the sprockets on the shafts (so-called lateral runout of the drive). The chain does not run straight, and its inner plates catch on the sides of the teeth, wearing them down to bare metal. The system must be realigned immediately.
What is the relationship between the number of teeth of a sprocket and the rotational speed of the drive?
This is the basic principle of the transmission ratio. If there is a small sprocket on the motor (drive) and a large one on the machine, the machine will turn more slowly but gain proportionally greater torque (force).
What is a technological bore in a sprocket and why is it left?
We manufacture sprockets with hub with a small, so-called pilot (preliminary) bore. We leave it deliberately so that the customer (or workshop) can bore it precisely to the exact shaft size of their machine.
In what cases are multi-strand sprockets used?
They are used to drive multi-strand chains in heavily loaded machines where there is no room for a wider sprocket with a larger pitch. Several strands distribute the load evenly, preventing premature chain breakage.
Where is this product used?
This type of sprocket is used in drives of agricultural and industrial machinery, including screw and bucket conveyors, feed conveyors, packaging machines and internal transport systems.
