Product Description
Sprocket 12B-3 z=13, with hub
The sprocket 12B-3 shown is a triplex (three-strand) sprocket with 13 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 3/4" / 19.05 mm. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 from C45E structural steel (EN 10083-1), without tooth hardening - as a Polish manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies an economical version that is fully dimensionally interchangeable with the hardened variant of the same pitch.

Frequently asked questions
In what cases are multi-strand sprockets used?
They are used to drive multi-strand chains in heavily loaded machines where there is no room for a wider sprocket with a larger pitch. Several strands distribute the load evenly, preventing premature chain breakage.
Does the difference in hardness between sprocket and chain affect their rate of wear?
Yes - chain and sprocket manufacturers select hardness so that they wear as evenly as possible, rather than one element "cutting down" the other. An excessively hard sprocket working with a soft, non-certified chain (or vice versa) leads to faster wear of the weaker element.
What should be considered when selecting a sprocket for low-temperature operation?
At low temperatures, carbon steel becomes more susceptible to brittle fracture under impact, so in cold stores and freezers it is worth considering a variant with increased impact strength or consulting the supplier on the choice of material. Equally important is the choice of a lubricant that will not thicken or lose its lubricating properties at low temperature.
Can the hub of a sprocket have a different hardness from the toothed rim?
Yes, and in practice this is usually the case - in the version with induction-hardened teeth, only the toothed rim is hardened, while the hub remains soft so that it can be freely turned and a keyway can be cut in it. This solution combines tooth wear resistance with ease of machining the hub.
Where is this product used?
Applications include drives in the food industry, packaging machines, sorting lines and agricultural harvesting machines, where the sprocket operates seasonally but under full load.
