Product Description
Sprocket 12B-1 z=95, with cast iron hub
Sprocket 12B-1, simplex, with 95 teeth and a hub - pitch 3/4" (19.05 mm). The material is grey cast iron - an economical solution with good vibration damping that proves itself in drives running at constant speed; the hub has a pilot bore that must be bored out individually to suit the shaft.

Frequently asked questions
How can you check whether the chain in an existing drive is already excessively elongated (stretched)?
Stretch out a section of a dozen or so chain links and compare its length with the catalogue dimension - an elongation of more than approx. 2-3% means the chain is due for replacement. A stretched chain no longer seats properly on the sprocket teeth, which accelerates the wear of both components, so it is better to replace it before it damages the sprocket as well.
Is it worth using guards on sprockets and the entire drive?
Yes - a guard protects operators from contact with moving parts and at the same time limits the ingress of dust and moisture to the chain, which genuinely extends its service life. In many industrial machines, a chain drive guard is also an occupational safety requirement.
Does the machine's operating temperature matter when choosing the sprocket material?
Yes - at very low or very high temperatures the mechanical properties of steel or cast iron change, and lubricants may change viscosity or thicken. Under unusual thermal conditions (cold stores, furnaces, dryers), it is advisable to consult the supplier before selecting a specific material variant.
How does uneven tooth wear affect machine vibration?
Worn teeth cause the so-called polygon effect - the chain drops off and climbs onto the teeth abruptly, which transmits vibrations to the shafts, destroys the bearings and leads to cracking of welds in the machine.
Does a cast iron sprocket require a different chain than a steel sprocket of the same pitch?
No - the tooth geometry and pitch are identical to those of the steel version of the same size, so the cast iron sprocket works with the same chain. The difference lies in the material of the hub and rim: cast iron dampens vibrations better and is cheaper, but withstands impacts and operation at high rotational speeds less well than steel.
Where is this product used?
This type of sprocket is used in drives of agricultural and industrial machinery, including screw and bucket conveyors, feed conveyors, packaging machines and internal transport systems.
