Product Description

Sprocket 12B-1 z=24, hardened hub

Sprocket 12B-1 (pitch 3/4" - 19.05 mm), simplex, 24 teeth, with hardened hub. The material is carbon steel C45E (EN 10083-1), and the teeth undergo induction hardening to 45-55 HRC - in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606; the hub retains a lower core hardness, so it can be machined safely.

Frequently asked questions

What should be used to preserve sprockets before a longer break in operation?

After cleaning with a brush and a technical cleaner, apply preservative grease or a thick, moisture-displacing spray oil to the entire surface of the sprocket. This will protect the carbon steel against a rusty film during a break in the workshop.

What does the pitch of a sprocket mean and how can it be checked?

The pitch of a sprocket corresponds to the chain pitch - it is the theoretical distance between the centres of adjacent teeth on the pitch circle. The easiest way to check it is to place a section of matching chain on the sprocket - it should sit perfectly, without tension.

When does tooth wear (the "shark fin" profile) mean the sprocket must be replaced?

If the teeth resemble pointed, tilted shark fins, the sprocket must be replaced immediately. Operating on such a profile can damage even a brand-new chain within a dozen or so days.

How does a hardness of around 45-55 HRC on the teeth extend the service life of the sprocket-chain system?

A hardness of 45-55 HRC matched to the hardened chain rollers is the optimal combination. The sprocket and chain wear slowly and evenly, and the sprocket does not turn into a "blade" that could shear the chain during operation.

Where is this product used?

This type of sprocket is used in drives of agricultural and industrial machinery, including screw and bucket conveyors, feed conveyors, packaging machines and internal transport systems.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
