Product Description
Sprocket 10B-3 z=46, with hub
Sprocket 10B-3 with hub, 46 teeth, triplex (three-strand) - a product matched to chain with a pitch of 15.88 mm (5/8"). As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
When should I choose a sprocket with hub and when a flat one (plate wheel)?
Flat sprockets (plate wheels) are most often used where they are mounted onto an existing flange or drum, or when there is extremely little space on the shaft. We choose a sprocket with hub when it must reliably transmit high torque directly from the shaft via a key - the hub provides a longer contact surface.
Do I need to select dedicated bearings for a sprocket with hub?
A sprocket with hub mounted with a key does not require its own bearings - the load is carried by the bearings of the shaft on which the sprocket is mounted. A dedicated bearing built into the sprocket is only needed for tensioning or guide sprockets mounted on an axle without its own drive.
What does the marking "z=X" on a sprocket mean and why is it so important when ordering?
"z" is the number of teeth of the sprocket - together with the pitch and the number of chain strands, it unambiguously defines the sprocket geometry (pitch circle and outside diameter). Ordering a sprocket with the wrong "z" usually means that it will not work correctly with the second sprocket already in the machine, and a different transmission ratio than intended will result.
Can a sprocket be reconditioned, e.g. by hardfacing worn teeth?
Technically, hardfacing and re-milling the teeth is possible, but in practice it is rarely cost-effective - the cost of reconditioning is often close to the price of a new sprocket, and restoring the full precision of the tooth profile requires specialist machining. In most cases, replacing it with a new sprocket is the quicker and safer solution.
Where is this product used?
Typical applications of the 10B-3 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.
