Product Description
Sprocket 10B-1 z=76, with cast iron hub
The sprocket 10B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 76 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 5/8" / 15.88 mm. Cast iron version of the sprocket - the tooth geometry is identical to the steel version with the same pitch and number of teeth; the bore in the hub is a pilot (preliminary) bore, and the exact size is achieved by turning.

Frequently asked questions
How can you check that the sprocket meshes correctly with the chain when the machine is started for the first time?
At low speed (e.g. turning the shaft by hand), it is worth observing whether the chain enters and leaves the teeth smoothly around the entire circumference of the sprocket, without catching or jumping. Any irregularities in operation at this stage usually indicate an alignment error rather than a defect in the sprocket itself.
How can you recognise an idler sprocket bearing that is starting to wear before it fails?
The first symptom is usually increased noise and noticeable, excessive play of the sprocket when it is moved by hand with the machine stopped. It is also worth periodically checking the temperature of the bearing housing during operation - an increase compared with other bearings in the system signals progressive wear.
What causes premature wear of the side faces of the teeth?
This is most often the result of misalignment of the sprockets on the shafts (so-called lateral runout of the drive). The chain does not run straight, and its inner plates catch on the sides of the teeth, wearing them down to bare metal. The system must be realigned immediately.
How can you tell whether a sprocket is still fit for further service or already due for replacement?
It is worth checking the tooth profile for visible chipping or the characteristic "hooked" shape, and also measuring the pitch circle diameter and comparing it with the catalogue dimension of a new sprocket. If the difference is visually noticeable or the chain starts to "jump", the sprocket is due for replacement.
Does a cast iron sprocket require a different chain than a steel sprocket of the same pitch?
No - the tooth geometry and pitch are identical to those of the steel version of the same size, so the cast iron sprocket works with the same chain. The difference lies in the material of the hub and rim: cast iron dampens vibrations better and is cheaper, but withstands impacts and operation at high rotational speeds less well than steel.
Where is this product used?
Typical applications of the 10B-1 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.
