Product Description
Sprocket 08B-3 z=24, with hub
The sprocket 08B-3 shown is a triplex (three-strand) sprocket with 24 teeth, made with a hub, for chain with a pitch of 1/2" / 12.7 mm. As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - a version without tooth hardening, cheaper than the hardened variant and sufficient for many typical industrial applications.

Frequently asked questions
What does uneven, one-sided wear of the sprocket teeth indicate?
This usually indicates misalignment between the driving and driven sprockets or that the chain is skewed relative to the sprocket. It is worth checking the alignment of both sprockets and the condition of the shaft bearings - over time, one-sided wear causes the chain to jump off the tooth.
Can the hub of a sprocket have a different hardness from the toothed rim?
Yes, and in practice this is usually the case - in the version with induction-hardened teeth, only the toothed rim is hardened, while the hub remains soft so that it can be freely turned and a keyway can be cut in it. This solution combines tooth wear resistance with ease of machining the hub.
Is a sprocket with hub suitable for reversing drives (with a change of rotation direction)?
Yes, the tooth geometry of a sprocket is symmetrical and has no preferred direction of operation, so the sprocket can be used in drives that change direction of rotation. In such systems, correct chain tension on both sides is particularly important, because when reversing, each side alternately becomes the working side.
How does uneven tooth wear affect machine vibration?
Worn teeth cause the so-called polygon effect - the chain drops off and climbs onto the teeth abruptly, which transmits vibrations to the shafts, destroys the bearings and leads to cracking of welds in the machine.
Where is this product used?
08B-3 sprockets operate in drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under load matters.
