Product Description

Sprocket 08B-1 z=35, hardened hub

The sprocket 08B-1 shown is a simplex sprocket with 35 teeth, made with a hardened hub, for chain with a pitch of 1/2" / 12.7 mm. As a European manufacturer, Ozdowski supplies the sprocket in C45E steel (EN 10083-1), in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 - the teeth are induction hardened (45-55 HRC), while the hub remains soft and easy to machine.

Frequently asked questions

How does induction hardening of the teeth affect abrasion resistance?

Induction hardening hardens only the surface layer of the tooth, where the chain rollers bear. The tooth is resistant to wear, while the sprocket core and hub remain elastic enough to safely absorb impacts and be suitable for boring.

What is the set screw hole in the hub for?

The threaded hole in the hub is used to screw in a headless screw (a so-called grub screw). It secures the sprocket against axial displacement along the shaft during machine vibration.

What is a technological bore in a sprocket and why is it left?

We manufacture sprockets with hub with a small, so-called pilot (preliminary) bore. We leave it deliberately so that the customer (or workshop) can bore it precisely to the exact shaft size of their machine.

Why are cast sprockets less precise than turned and milled ones?

Cheap castings have a rough tooth surface, hidden air bubbles and slight deformations. CNC-turned and milled sprockets mean a smooth working surface, perfect alignment and safety for the most expensive machines.

Where is this product used?

08B-1 sprockets operate in the drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under heavy load matters.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
