Product Description

Sprocket 08B-1 z=10, hardened hub

Simplex sprocket 08B-1 with hardened hub, 10 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 1/2" (12.7 mm). Compliance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606 guarantees full interchangeability with chain of the same pitch; C45E steel (EN 10083-1) and induction hardening of the teeth (45-55 HRC) provide high wear resistance while keeping the hub machinable.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check the radial and axial runout of a sprocket after mounting it on the shaft?

A dial indicator on a magnetic stand is used for the measurement. Place the tip against the circumference of the sprocket or its side face, rotate the shaft and check the deviations. Excessive runout indicates faulty installation or a damaged shaft.

Can a sprocket with a technological bore be installed without additional machining?

No - the technological bore is deliberately too small to fit a typical shaft. It must be bored on a lathe to the required diameter and, if necessary, a keyway cut according to the requirements of the specific machine.

How does induction hardening of the teeth affect abrasion resistance?

Induction hardening hardens only the surface layer of the tooth, where the chain rollers bear. The tooth is resistant to wear, while the sprocket core and hub remain elastic enough to safely absorb impacts and be suitable for boring.

How do I bore the hole in a sprocket to fit a motor shaft?

A sprocket with a pilot bore should be clamped in a lathe (gripping the hub to avoid runout) and bored to the required diameter with an H7 tolerance. If the sprocket has hardened teeth, the hub is usually soft and easy to machine.

Where is this product used?

08B-1 sprockets operate in the drives of construction machinery, goods lifts, aggregate conveyors and woodworking machines - wherever tooth durability under heavy load matters.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
