It works in food and packaging industry machinery and in internal transport equipment. The double-strand version carries higher loads than a single-strand one of the same pitch, so it is chosen where there is no room for a chain with a larger pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Which chain does this sprocket fit?
ASA 40-2 (08A-2) roller chain with a pitch of 12.7 mm. A duplex sprocket requires a double-strand (duplex) chain.
Does it fit 08B chain?
No. 08B chain (European standard) has the same pitch, but a different roller diameter (8.51 mm instead of 7.94 mm) and a different inner width (7.75 mm instead of 7.94 mm). The ASA 40 sprocket is designed for American-standard chain, so the two systems should not be mixed.
Is this sprocket available in another version?
Yes. Also available: Sprocket 08A-1 (40-1) z=25 with hub; Sprocket 08A-1 (40-1) z=25 with hub hardened.
When does a sprocket need replacing?
It should be replaced when the teeth start to look like pointed shark fins or are clearly bent to one side. Running on such a profile quickly destroys even a new chain, so a worn sprocket must be replaced.
Can a new chain be fitted on a worn sprocket?
This should not be done. A worn sprocket has a changed tooth profile, so a new chain runs unevenly and elongates quickly. The rule is: new chain - new sprockets.
What does the lead time depend on?
When ordering, please check the current stock level of this sprocket - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may vary depending on the warehouse.
