Product Description

Sprocket 06B-1 z=45, with cast iron hub

Simplex sprocket 06B-1 with hub, 45 teeth - designed for chain with a pitch of 3/8" (9.53 mm). The sprocket is made of grey cast iron - a traditional material for sprockets in applications with moderate loads and lower rotational speeds; the bore in the hub is a pilot bore intended to be machined to the shaft size.

Frequently asked questions

How important is the concentricity of the hub bore relative to the toothed rim?

If the hub bore is not machined concentrically with the toothed rim, the sprocket will "run out" during operation - the teeth will engage the chain at a varying angle, which accelerates their wear and generates additional vibration. That is why boring out the pilot bore must be done on a lathe, clamping the sprocket by the hub or rim, and not "by eye".

If I order today, when will I receive the product?

Information on the lead time is given next to the product's stock level, above the price. If the sprocket is available in the main warehouse, we ship it no later than the next working day.

What should be considered when selecting a sprocket for low-temperature operation?

At low temperatures, carbon steel becomes more susceptible to brittle fracture under impact, so in cold stores and freezers it is worth considering a variant with increased impact strength or consulting the supplier on the choice of material. Equally important is the choice of a lubricant that will not thicken or lose its lubricating properties at low temperature.

What is the set screw hole in the hub for?

The threaded hole in the hub is used to screw in a headless screw (a so-called grub screw). It secures the sprocket against axial displacement along the shaft during machine vibration.

Does a cast iron sprocket require a different chain than a steel sprocket of the same pitch?

No - the tooth geometry and pitch are identical to those of the steel version of the same size, so the cast iron sprocket works with the same chain. The difference lies in the material of the hub and rim: cast iron dampens vibrations better and is cheaper, but withstands impacts and operation at high rotational speeds less well than steel.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications of the 06B-1 sprocket: drives for pumps, mixers and industrial fans, as well as control systems for industrial gates and roller shutters, where resistance to continuous operation is required.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
