Chain 16B-1 with rubber pad (1.85) is a variant of the 16B-1 (simplex) chain fitted with a rubber top vulcanised onto the bridge plate - a solution used wherever gentle conveying and noise damping matter. The chain is made with a bridge plate of increased thickness 1.85 mm (standard 1.4-1.6 mm). The increased plate thickness raises the compressive strength, so it can carry heavier items than the standard version. This version can be used interchangeably with the standard one (1.4-1.6 mm) - both run on the same sprockets. It is also permissible to combine a standard section with a reinforced one in a single chain, provided that a suitable connector matched to both plate thicknesses is used.

The pad is made of NBR rubber (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber), which provides good resistance to oils, greases, fuels and common organic solvents while maintaining high elasticity. The standard operating temperature range is from -20°C to +100°C. The base chain is made of steel in accordance with DIN 8187 / ISO 606.
