Frequently asked questions

Which V-belt pulley has the SPZ profile, a datum diameter of 75 mm and 3 grooves?

This is the v-belt pulley SPZ 75/3, 3 grooves, cast iron, pilot bore. The outside diameter is 79 mm and the face width 40 mm.

Which V-belt fits this pulley?

A narrow SPZ V-belt (9.7 × 8 mm) to ISO 4184 / DIN 7753. Classical Z belts (10 mm) to DIN 2215 also run in SPZ grooves, but transmit less power. The number of belts equals the number of grooves (3).

How do I prepare the bore for the shaft?

The pilot bore Ø1 mm is bored out on a lathe to the shaft size (usually to tolerance H7) and a keyway is cut to DIN 6885. The pulley is secured axially with a set screw or a retaining ring. After machining the hub must keep a sufficient wall thickness.

How do I calculate the belt speed on this pulley?

Belt speed v = π × dp × n / 60 000, where dp is the datum diameter in mm and n is the speed in rpm. On this pulley at 1450 rpm the belt runs at approx. 5.7 m/s. The pulley is statically balanced up to 35 m/s.

How do I calculate the ratio of a drive with this pulley?

The ratio is the datum diameter of the driven pulley divided by that of the driving pulley, e.g. 75 / 150 = 0.5. Because of the slight slip of the V-belt, the actual speed is approx. 1-2% lower.

What does the lead time depend on?

When ordering, please check the current stock level of this pulley - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in each warehouse. The stock level is shown above the product price and may differ between warehouses.
