Timing belt pulley PolyChain GT PC 14M 68 z=36 Steel - for HTD 14M / PolyChain GT belts with a pitch of 14 mm (HTD). Made of C45 steel with a profile optimised for Gates PolyChain GT polyurethane belts.

The pilot bore allows the pulley to be bored precisely to the shaft size and the fit required by the machine, to H7 tolerance. The keyway is cut on a slotting machine according to DIN 6885.

Used in machines requiring accurate motion transmission: heavy industrial drives, presses, agricultural and construction machinery.

What materials do you use for pulleys?

At the same width, a PolyChain GT belt transmits considerably more torque than a conventional HTD belt. It does not produce dust, is resistant to oils and requires no lubrication.

Does shaft runout damage pulleys?

Yes - shaft runout causes cyclic jerking of the belt, which leads to cracking of the pulley hub and accelerated belt wear. Before mounting the pulley, it is worth checking the shaft runout with a dial indicator.

How does PolyChain GT differ from an HTD 8M pulley?

The pitch is identical (8 mm), so the pulleys have the same overall dimensions - but the tooth profile is optimised for the Gates PolyChain GT polyurethane belt. PolyChain and HTD 8M pulleys are not interchangeable - use only PolyChain pulleys with a PolyChain belt.
