Product Description

Spur gear module 5, z=19, with hub, hardened

The spur gear module 5 shown, 19 teeth, with hub, is a basic component of module drives - it meshes with any other gear or gear rack (toothed rack) of the same module and pressure angle 20°. The tooth surface is induction hardened (45-55 HRC), so the gear better withstands high cyclic loads and operation in harsh industrial conditions.

Frequently asked questions

How do you choose the gear material (C45E steel, stainless steel or plastic) for specific operating conditions?

C45E steel is a universal choice for most industrial drives, stainless steel performs well in humid or aggressive environments, and plastics are used for lower loads or when quiet running and lubrication-free operation matter.

How can you check whether two module gears will mesh with each other?

There is one absolute condition: both gears must have exactly the same module (e.g. m=2) and the same pressure angle (standard 20°). If the modules differ by even a fraction of a millimetre, the teeth will start to shear and the gearbox will be destroyed.

What does it mean when the gear "skips" teeth under load?

Most often it is a sign that the transmitted torque exceeds the tooth strength for the given module, or that the backlash is too large - in both cases continued operation leads to the teeth breaking off quickly.

How do you calculate the outside diameter from the number of teeth and the module?

It is very simple maths, often used by maintenance departments. The formula is: Dz = m * (Z + 2). For example, for a gear with module 3 and 20 teeth, the outside diameter will be: 3 * (20 + 2) = 66 mm.

Where is this product used?

Module gears of this type are used in speed reducers, machine gearboxes, CNC machine tools and in rack drives of sliding and entrance gates.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
