Product Description

Spur gear module 4, z=18, with hub

This module 4 spur gear (18 teeth, with hub) is used wherever reliable, maintenance-free power transmission via involute gearing is required. The standard material is C45E steel (UNI EN 10083-1), widely used in the construction of gear transmissions, gear racks and module drives.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the pilot bore in a module gear often smaller than required?

A "rough" bore allows you to bore it out yourself to the exact, non-standard size of the customer's shaft - a ready-made large bore from stock would rarely match the required size perfectly.

What does it mean when the gear "skips" teeth under load?

Most often it is a sign that the transmitted torque exceeds the tooth strength for the given module, or that the backlash is too large - in both cases continued operation leads to the teeth breaking off quickly.

How can a module gear be secured against sliding along the shaft?

Besides a key or a clamping bush, set screws (locking screws) in the hub, thrust washers or retaining rings are also used - the choice depends on whether the transmission operates under variable axial load.

What is the difference between a gear with hub (PM) and a plate wheel (CM), and when should you choose which?

The hub extends the part axially and makes mounting on the shaft easier (more room for a key or a clamping ring), while the plate wheel is flat and lighter - it is chosen when the design already has its own bearing arrangement/mounting and the gear only has to transmit the meshing.

Where is this product used?

Used in the construction and servicing of gear reducers and gear transmissions for agricultural and construction machinery, and wherever precise and repeatable torque transmission matters.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
