Product Description

Spur gear module 3, z=50, with hub, hardened

This module 3 spur gear (50 teeth, with hub) is used wherever reliable, maintenance-free power transmission via involute gearing is required. Made of C45E steel (EN 10083-1) with induction-hardened teeth (45-55 HRC) - a variant intended for the most intensively used drives.

Frequently asked questions

Are the gear wheels for sliding gates also module gears?

Yes, the classic gate drive gear is a module gear working with a gear rack fixed to the gate leaf. This is usually module 4 (m=4), and for intensive commercial use precision-machined components are chosen that run quietly and without jamming.

How does a module gear differ from a chain sprocket?

A module gear meshes directly with another gear or gear rack, while a sprocket works with a roller chain - they have a different tooth profile and are not interchangeable, even though they look similar from a distance.

How do you calculate the ratio of a gear pair of two module gears with different numbers of teeth?

The ratio is calculated as the quotient of the number of teeth of the driven gear to that of the driving gear (i = Z2/Z1); the module must be identical for both gears, otherwise meshing will not work at all.

What does the pressure angle mean in module gears and why is it usually 20°?

The pressure angle defines the inclination of the tooth flank. In European industry the standard is 20°, because it provides the optimal balance between tooth root strength and quiet gearbox operation. This avoids the phenomenon known as tooth undercutting on smaller gears.

Where is this product used?

Typical applications include conveyor drives, packaging machines, industrial automation and positioning systems using a gear and gear rack pair.

When placing your order, please check the current stock level of this gear - the lead time depends on it and is clearly stated according to the quantity available in the given warehouse.
