Where can this plastic gear be used?
A light nylon gear with carbon fibre works well wherever low weight, quiet operation and corrosion resistance matter, e.g.:
- conveyors and transporters
- small domestic appliances
- small geared motors
- automation systems in production plants
- positioning drives and actuators
- equipment for the glass and ceramics industry
- light drives in agricultural and garden machinery
Questions and answers about the spur gear module 3
In which modules are O3D gears with hub available?
Yes. We offer O3D gears with hub in modules from 0,5 to 5, in steps of 0,25.
Is the gear solid inside?
Not entirely - and that is intentional. The inside of the gear is printed with a gyroid structure, which increases its strength. A fully solid gear would be too stiff and therefore more prone to breaking. We use full infill around the shaft bore, always over a diameter twice as large as the pilot bore - e.g. with a O15 mm bore it reaches O30 mm.
Is a printed gear suitable for use in a machine?
No. The gear is intended for normal operation in a machine - in transmissions with light and medium loads. It also works well in prototypes, but that is not its only use.
Can you make the gear from a different material?
Yes. If PA12-CF15 does not suit the operating conditions of your transmission, we will select another material and make the gear from it. Describe the application to us and we will propose a solution.
Can I buy the gear as a company?
Yes, we issue a VAT invoice for every order.
