The O3D spur gear module 2, 45 teeth, is a light module gear with hub, 3D printed from PA12 nylon with carbon fibre (PA12-CF15). The outer diameter is 94 mm and the O16 mm pilot bore is prepared for reaming to the shaft size. It works well in transmissions with light and medium loads.

What does the tooth surface of a printed gear look like?

The surface is slightly rough due to the carbon fibre content of the material. The print layers are invisible or barely noticeable.

Can a plastic gear replace a steel one in a heavy-duty transmission?

The PA12-CF15 gear is designed for transmissions with light and medium loads. In drives transmitting high torque or working with strong shocks, a steel gear is the better choice.

Can you make the gear from a different material?

Yes. If PA12-CF15 does not suit the operating conditions of your transmission, we will select another material and make the gear from it. Describe the application to us and we will propose a solution.
