Product Description
Module gear 25 teeth with hub, module 2 - carbon fibre nylon PA12-CF15, O3D
The O3D spur gear module 2 with 25 teeth is a module gear with hub made of PA12-CF15 plastic - nylon reinforced with carbon fibre, produced by 3D printing. With an outer diameter of 54 mm it weighs approx. 58,0 g, and the O12 mm pilot bore lets you fit it to your shaft. A quieter and lighter replacement for a metal gear in transmissions with moderate loads.

Where can this plastic gear be used?
PA12-CF15 plastic gears are used in transmissions with moderate loads, such as:
- electrically driven tools
- mechanical clocks and counters
- packaging lines and machines
- industrial cleaning machines
- small robots and manipulators
- stage machinery and moving scenery
- equipment for the glass and ceramics industry
Questions and answers about the spur gear module 2
What is the weight of this gear?
The gear weighs approx. 58,0 g.
Does a polyamide gear absorb moisture?
PA12 is one of the polyamides with lower water absorption than e.g. PA6, so it keeps its dimensions better under changing conditions.
How do I maintain a 3D printed gear?
- Installation: check the alignment and centre distance of the mating gears. Runout and too little backlash cause the teeth to overheat and wear quickly. Ream the pilot bore to the shaft size instead of forcing the gear on.
- Mating gear: ideally hardened and smooth, because carbon fibre wears down soft metals.
- Load and temperature: do not exceed the loads the gear was selected for. Avoid long operation at high speeds without heat dissipation.
- Lubrication: optional. Under higher loads, grease reduces wear and noise. Use plastic-compatible lubricants and protect the gear from solvents, acids and strong cleaning agents.
- Cleaning: remove dust and chips, as they act as an abrasive. Compressed air or a dry cloth is enough; for grease soiling, use a mild agent without solvents.
- Inspection: check the teeth from time to time. Worn flanks, rounded tips, cracks at the tooth root or clearly increased backlash mean that the gear needs replacing.
- Outdoor use: shield the transmission from constant sunlight. Moisture is not a problem for PA12.
- Storing spare gears: in a dry place, away from sunlight and heat sources.
Can you make a larger series of gears?
Yes. We agree the production time for a series individually - write to us and tell us how many pieces you need.
How is the O3D gear made?
The gear is produced by FDM 3D printing from PA12-CF15 filament. We manufacture it under the O3D - Ozdowski 3D Printing brand.
The O3D - Ozdowski 3D Printing brand belongs to Ozdowski Group, a Polish manufacturer of drive components.
