Product Description
Module gear 19 teeth, module 2, with hub - 3D printed PA12-CF15 composite, O3D
The O3D spur gear module 2 with 19 teeth is a module gear with hub, 3D printed from PA12-CF15 composite, i.e. nylon (polyamide 12) reinforced with carbon fibre. It has an outer diameter of 42 mm and a O10 mm pilot bore that you can ream to the size of your shaft. A light and quiet gear for transmissions with light and medium loads.

Where can this plastic gear be used?
A gear made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic transmits drive in gear trains with light and medium loads, for example in applications such as:
- small robots and manipulators
- packaging machines
- printing and bookbinding equipment
- bottling plants and bottling lines
- textile machines
- prototypes and functional models
- replacement gears in older equipment when the original is unavailable
Questions and answers about the spur gear module 2
Can a module gear replace an inch DP gear?
No. Inch gears described by DP (Diametral Pitch) have a different tooth size than module gears and do not mesh correctly with them. If your gear is marked DP, write to us - we will help you find a solution or make a gear to order.
Is the gear solid inside?
Not entirely - and that is intentional. The inside of the gear is printed with a gyroid structure, which increases its strength. A fully solid gear would be too stiff and therefore more prone to breaking. We use full infill around the shaft bore, always over a diameter twice as large as the pilot bore - e.g. with a O15 mm bore it reaches O30 mm.
Is PA12-CF15 resistant to sunlight and weather?
Yes - PA12 is one of the best polyamides for such applications.
- Moisture: PA12 absorbs very little water, so the dimensions and strength of the gear hardly change in rain or high humidity.
- Frost: PA12 copes well with low temperatures. However, carbon fibre reduces impact strength, so in frost the gear absorbs impacts less well.
- UV radiation: long-term exposure to sunlight degrades the surface of polyamides. Carbon partly protects it, but for constant operation in the sun it is better to shield the transmission.
Can you make a gear based on a drawing or a sample?
Yes. Send us a technical drawing or the data of the old gear and we will reproduce it by 3D printing.
Can I buy the gear as a company?
Yes, we issue a VAT invoice for every order.
